Terms of Service
These terms (which are also our terms and conditions) govern your use of the ThisQuarter software and service. Please read them before you sign up.
Last updated: 18 July 2026
1. Who we are and these terms
ThisQuarter is provided by Computify Limited, registered in England and Wales (company number 12869690). By creating an account or using ThisQuarter, you agree to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a firm, you confirm you have authority to bind it.
2. What ThisQuarter is
ThisQuarter is third-party software that helps self-employed people, landlords and accountants keep digital records and submit Making Tax Digital for Income Tax updates, adjustments and final declarations to HMRC. We are an independent software provider. We are not HMRC, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed or approved by HMRC. Where our software has been recognised by HMRC we may describe it as "HMRC recognised"; we do not describe it as "accredited" or "approved".
ThisQuarter is a tool, not tax advice. You remain responsible for the accuracy and completeness of what you submit to HMRC and for meeting your own tax obligations. Check your obligations at gov.uk or with a qualified adviser.
3. Your account and licence
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use ThisQuarter for the number of users, devices and clients covered by your subscription tier. One licence key is intended for one user on one device; additional desktop seats can be added for the published fee. You are responsible for keeping your licence key and account credentials secure and for activity under your account.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- share, resell or sublicense the software or your licence beyond your subscription;
- attempt to bypass licensing, security or usage limits, or reverse-engineer the software except as the law allows;
- use the software unlawfully, or to submit information you know to be false to HMRC;
- disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or other customers' data.
5. Subscriptions, fees and VAT
Prices are set out on our pricing page. Sole traders can start free for their first two quarterly submission cycles on the Solo plan, after which the plan is charged monthly. Accountant plans are a 12-month agreement — see the Contract Agreement for the full terms, including billing, renewal, per-filing Final Declaration fees and cancellation. All prices exclude VAT; UK VAT is added at checkout and shown on your invoice.
6. Your data
How we handle personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy. Your tax records are kept encrypted on your own device; you are responsible for keeping your device secure and for your own backups. You can export or delete your data at any time.
7. Availability and support
We work to keep ThisQuarter available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service, and access to HMRC depends on HMRC's own systems. We may release updates that you may need to install to keep submitting.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss arising from information you submit to HMRC, or for HMRC penalties, interest or decisions. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. ThisQuarter is provided on an "as is" basis to the extent permitted by law.
9. Suspension and termination
You can stop using ThisQuarter at any time (subject to the Contract Agreement for accountant plans). We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or use the software in a way that risks the service or other customers. On termination your licence ends; your local data remains yours.
10. Security incidents
If you discover a security risk or incident, please tell us straight away at security@mail.thisquarter.co.uk so we can respond.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified and the "last updated" date will change. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Questions? Contact us.
